ASMPT Limited (HKEX: 00522) announced a leadership transition effective 11 August 2026. Incumbent Group Chief Executive Officer Robin Gerard Ng Cher Tat will retire after more than two decades with the company, including six years at the helm. The Board expressed gratitude for his role in steering the group through the Covid-19 period, industry downturns and multiple modernisation initiatives.
Bassel Haddad, 51, will assume the positions of Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director on the same date. Haddad brings over 25 years of semiconductor-sector experience covering fabless design, integrated device manufacturing and foundry operations. His recent roles include Senior Vice President & General Manager of Foundry Solutions and Technology Platforms at SkyWater Technology, preceded by a 14-year tenure at Intel Corporation where he held three vice-presidential general-manager positions across edge computing, graphics and IoT product lines.
Under an open-ended employment agreement, Haddad will receive an annual base salary and allowances totalling approximately SGD0.91 million, eligibility for the company’s Employee Share Incentive Scheme with performance- and retention-based share grants, and a one-off joining bonus of SGD1.00 million. Either party may terminate the contract with six months’ written notice. Haddad will not receive a separate director’s fee; his directorship is subject to the customary retirement and re-election protocols at future annual general meetings.
The Board, chaired by John Lok Kam Chong, welcomed Haddad and reaffirmed ASMPT’s strategic positioning to capitalise on AI-driven computing and next-generation mobility trends.
