Technology shares led a powerful market recovery today, with a single stock experiencing a dramatic turnaround from a limit-down fall to a limit-up gain.
The market exhibited a distinct "K-shaped" pattern, where the overall index was lifted primarily by strength in the technology sector, even as a majority of individual stocks declined.
On June 2nd, the Shanghai Composite Index finished higher after a volatile session, while the ChiNext Index showed stronger performance. At the close, the Shanghai Composite was up 0.43%, the Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.63%, and the ChiNext Index surged 2.66%.
Overall, 1,543 stocks advanced, with 96 hitting their daily limit-up, while 3,876 stocks declined.
Key Sectors Driving the Rally
The CPO (Co-Packaged Optics) concept sector exploded higher, with multiple stocks reaching their daily limit-up.
Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. (SZ: 002384)
Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing's share price surged to the daily limit-up, a sharp reversal from its limit-down decline the previous day which was attributed to market rumors.
MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor) concept stocks also showed sustained strength, with companies like Torch Electron among those hitting limit-up. A recent Goldman Sachs report highlighted that MLCCs have become the third-largest cost component in the bill of materials for current AI servers, trailing only GPUs and memory chips.
In related analysis, China Securities Co., Ltd. noted that the rapid development of AI has triggered a shortage wave for MLCCs. As the AI industry grows, AI servers, due to their massive power consumption, require MLCC counts approximately three times higher than standard servers, leading to a surge in demand and intensifying supply tightness. Furthermore, the trends of vehicle electrification, intelligence, and connectivity are increasing control modules in automobiles, significantly boosting MLCC usage per vehicle.
PCB (Printed Circuit Board) concept stocks were active, with Shengquan Group among the gainers reaching limit-up.
Areas of Market Weakness
On the downside, sports-related concept stocks declined sharply, with Shuhua Sports and China Sports Industry hitting their daily limit-down. Sectors including media, agriculture, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, liquor, real estate, and power also trended lower.
