Six Super-Large Rail-Mounted Gantry Cranes Depart Zhangjiagang for Export to Singapore

Deep News2025-12-29

On December 28th, the vessel "Fanzhou 6," loaded with six rail-mounted gantry cranes, set sail from Zhangjiagang, China, bound for Singapore. The exported cranes are exceptionally large, with each unit measuring approximately 48 meters in length, 27 meters in width, and 36 meters in height, with a total weight of about 2,600 tons. As pre-holiday water transport demands surge, leading to a continuous increase in vessel traffic, the navigation safety risks associated with transporting such oversized equipment have also risen. To address the challenges posed by the cranes' massive size, extensive wind exposure area, and high navigation requirements, the Zhangjiagang Maritime Safety Administration implemented proactive and precise measures to ensure the vessel's safe passage. Zhao Xunan, a law enforcement officer from the administration's Bonded Zone Patrol Unit, stated that the maritime authorities actively established a communication mechanism with the terminal, the ship operator, and the cargo owner. They also shared real-time meteorological data with weather services to issue timely weather warnings and guide the vessel in formulating a reasonable sailing schedule. Simultaneously, the Zhangjiagang Maritime Safety Administration strictly enforced a 24-hour duty system with leadership oversight, enhanced patrols in key waterways, and strengthened emergency preparedness. These efforts ensure a swift and proper response to any unforeseen incidents, providing robust safeguards for orderly and safe waterborne transport during the holiday period.
