Google DeepMind's co-founder and CEO, Demis Hassabis, held separate meetings with leaders of major South Korean conglomerates on Tuesday, including Hyundai Motor Group and LG Group, according to industry sources.
Insiders revealed that Hassabis met with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung earlier in the day, before visiting LG Group's headquarters for a meeting with Chairman Koo Kwang-mo.
Hassabis and Koo were expected to discuss ways to strengthen their artificial intelligence collaboration during their private meeting. Senior executives from LG Electronics and its AI research laboratory also attended the session.
The CEO has been in Seoul since Monday, marking his first visit to South Korea in a decade. During a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, Hassabis hinted at potential meetings with major Korean conglomerates and expressed DeepMind's plans to expand and deepen existing partnerships with domestic business groups.
