On April 21, rumors circulated on social media claiming that Starbucks China had officially opened for franchising, with a nationwide rollout planned in phases starting in April. The reports suggested that the total investment per store would range from 1.1 million to 1.3 million yuan.
In response, Starbucks told Sina Finance: "These are false rumors and inaccurate information."
