On October 18, 2023, Anqing Port successfully inaugurated its direct shipping route to Shanghai Waigaoqiao, operated by China Foreign Trade Transportation (Anhui) Co., Ltd. The inaugural voyage of the feeder vessel "Zhonghai 699-2539E" loaded approximately 70 TEUs of foreign trade export containers, including goods such as panels, paper cups, cotton swabs, and resins. Departing from Anqing Port's container terminal, the vessel is expected to arrive at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Phase V terminal within 48 hours. This direct route will significantly shorten the shipping time between Anqing and Shanghai, establishing an efficient and convenient new logistics channel for both regions. The launch of this direct service is an important measure by Anqing to integrate into the Yangtze River Delta Development Plan. The Anqing municipal government places high importance on the construction of a port logistics system and aims to establish a direct waterway and land transportation system integrated with Yangshan Port and Zhoushan Port as a key task for 2025. The Anqing Transportation Bureau collaborates with China Foreign Trade to actively plan and organize the upgrade of this route, further improving the efficient connection to the Shanghai port international logistics hub and facilitating faster export of local chemical, light industrial, textile, and sanitary products. The launch of this route leverages Anqing's strategic location as a crucial node city in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, enhancing the "river-lake-sea" logistics network and providing strong support for regional industrial synergy and trade facilitation.
