Nike's professional outdoor performance brand ACG (All Conditions Gear) has opened its first global flagship store, the ACG Base Camp, at Taikoo Li Sanlitun in Beijing. Embodying the brand's mission to redefine outdoor gear for a new generation of athletes through professional performance and a return to the spirit of exploration, the ACG Base Camp marks a significant new chapter for the brand.
Guided by the "worn to be wild" philosophy, the ACG Base Camp introduces a forward-thinking retail concept that brings the outdoor experience indoors, creating an immersive brand environment. Following its recent revitalization, the nearly 40-year-old ACG brand continues to focus on three core areas: trail running, hiking, and outdoor exploration. It integrates professional performance, innovative experiences, and community engagement to serve athletes who embrace challenge, explore the wilderness, and connect with nature.
Recently, trail runner Ren Ti, a member of the All Conditions Racing Department, along with actor Cisha and basketball player Yang Liwei—both designated "Wild Friends" of ACG—joined a group of athletes in distinctive orange gear to be among the first to experience the global flagship. They joined Fitz Paccione, General Manager of ACG for Nike Greater China, in welcoming consumers to this new space to discover ACG's latest innovations in products and services.
Fitz Paccione, ACG General Manager for Greater China, stated: "The launch of the first global ACG Base Camp in Beijing is a milestone moment for the brand. We are setting out with a clearer focus on professional outdoor performance, and the Chinese market is vital to this journey. We are confident in the growth potential of China's outdoor sports scene and will continue our investment, growing together with the outdoor community. Starting from Beijing, ACG aims to connect people with wider natural landscapes."
Ren Ti, trail runner and All Conditions Racing Department member, commented: "Trail running is more than competition; it's a way to explore the world. Previously, runners like us had to find our own routes and figure out gear on our own. Now, with the ACG Base Camp, we have a place to gather, exchange ideas, and even start our adventures together."
Actor and ACG Wild Friend Cisha shared: "Trying on the orange ACG Ultrafly trail running shoes made me want to hit the mountains immediately—it was a fantastic feeling. I'm currently training for trail running and hope to complete my own trail race this year."
Chinese women's basketball player and ACG Wild Friend Yang Liwei added: "Here, you can picture yourself in the mountains—running on rocky paths or watching the sunrise at camp. Basketball taught me teamwork; the outdoors teaches me self-reflection. The ACG Base Camp is like a gateway, encouraging more people to step into the outdoors and helping Wild Friends like me find a sense of belonging."
The retail space is fully infused with ACG's outdoor DNA, creating an immersive experience through thematic windows, innovative displays, and community interaction. This allows consumers to explore the latest products and technologies while experiencing the brand's imaginative and expressive style.
Key zones within the base camp include: - **Main Camp Hotspot:** Mannequins integrated with animal motifs and natural textures, sparking the wilderness imagination within every sports enthusiast. - **Discovery Zone:** Interactive narratives vividly present the brand's latest technologies and innovations. - **Core Gear Archive:** The store layout reflects ACG's three core sports pillars: trail running, hiking, and outdoor exploration. - **ACG By You:** A personalization service allowing outdoor enthusiasts to add custom touches to their favorite gear. - **Wild Meetup Point:** A hub for outdoor community events, field testing, and expert sharing sessions, continually igniting inspiration for adventure.
Concurrently, a special edition of the Nike in-store publication "NIKE LOOK" is available exclusively at the ACG Base Camp. It details Nike's leading innovations across various sports, with a cover inspired by the adaptive inflation and temperature-control system of the Air Milano, offering readers a direct sense of innovative "air-infused" outdoor adventure.
From February 28 to March 1, ACG launched its 'ACG All-Terrain Speed Trail Run' event, inviting outdoor enthusiasts to gather at the Base Camp and board the "Mountain Express" to head into the wild. Several boldly decorated buses traveled through main city streets to a "Mountain Transfer Station" near the Base Camp. Athletes Ren Ti and Yang Liwei took on roles as "ticket checkers" as over a hundred dedicated outdoor enthusiasts and runners boarded the buses, heading directly from the urban center to Jinshanling.
An unexpected heavy snowfall at the foot of the Great Wall seemed like nature's tacit response to ACG—the most authentic field tests always occur in the most unpredictable conditions. This embodies ACG's inherent DNA: All Conditions Gear for all conditions. Participants divided into "Mountain Goat" and "Marmot" teams for a trail race, testing the limits of ACG gear through mud and snow.
This is only the beginning. Moving forward, such events will expand to cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen, as ACG calls on more "wild" individuals to venture deeper into the wilderness and find their own rhythm in the great outdoors.
