China Shenhua Energy (01088) Shares Rise Over 3%; First Three Quarters Net Profit Attributable to Parent Reaches 47.317 Billion Yuan, Company Plans to Acquire 50% Stake in Coal-to-Gas Firm

Stock News10-26

China Shenhua Energy (01088) shares climbed more than 3%, and as of press time were up 2.78% at HK$40.72, with turnover of HK$257 million.

On the news front, on October 23, China Shenhua Energy issued an announcement covering the nine months ended September 30, 2026, reporting revenue of 296.031 billion yuan, up 9.0% year on year; profit attributable to owners of the company of 47.317 billion yuan, up 2.1% year on year; and basic earnings per share of 2.198 yuan.

On the same day, China Shenhua Energy announced that its board of directors had reviewed and approved the acquisition. Under the Equity Transfer Agreement, the company's wholly owned subsidiary, Xinjiang Energy, intends to acquire, for a cash consideration of approximately 618 million yuan, a 50% equity interest in the coal-to-gas company held by Western Energy.

Given that the raw coal and fuel coal required by the coal-to-gas company are mainly supplied by Xinjiang Energy's Hongshiquan coal mine, this acquisition will help further deepen the industrial synergy of the group's coal chemical business, optimize the layout of the coal chemical industry, and strengthen the integrated operating structure. In addition, the acquisition will help reduce the group's ongoing related-party coal supply transactions with China Energy Investment Corporation.
