Global Wealth Management Forum · 2026 Shanghai Suhewan Conference was held in Shanghai from October 16 to 17, 2026, and Christopher HAMILTON, Client Director of Investment Solutions for Invesco Asia Pacific, attended the meeting.
Christopher HAMILTON pointed out that the development and application of artificial intelligence is a long-term structural trend worthy of attention.
"When it comes to artificial intelligence, we often think of software, algorithms and digital services, but the development and implementation of artificial intelligence also require the support of physical infrastructure, including power generation and transmission and distribution networks, data centers and cooling systems, copper, aluminum and other industrial materials, and an energy supply system that balances reliability, cost and low-carbon transition needs. Therefore, the long-term impact related to artificial intelligence may extend beyond the technology industry," said Christopher HAMILTON.
In his view, China is one of the important participants in the global development and application of artificial intelligence. Based on some public research and industry observations, China's artificial intelligence ecosystem shows its own characteristics in terms of model capabilities, open-source practices and cost efficiency. There are differences between the Chinese and American artificial intelligence ecosystems in terms of technology paths, industrial foundations and application scenarios, and they may not be simply substitutes for each other. In some fields, the two may each have advantages and jointly promote the evolution and application expansion of global artificial intelligence technology.
At the same time, he also pointed out that the long-term impact of technological development depends not only on model performance, but also on whether broad and sustainable practical application can be achieved. Technology adoption, user acceptance, the talent base, and the ability and willingness of enterprises and workers to integrate new technologies into actual work scenarios are equally important.
