Former CIA Senior Officer Charged with Embezzling $40 Million in Gold Bars, Falsifying Credentials and Timesheets

Former senior CIA officer David Rush has been formally charged with theft of government funds. According to reports, the FBI discovered 303 gold bars, each weighing approximately one kilogram, with a total market value exceeding $40 million, during a search of his Virginia residence. The investigation further revealed that Rush is accused of falsifying his academic credentials and professional history. Additionally, after retiring from the Naval Reserve in 2015, he allegedly obtained approximately $77,000 in salary from the CIA by submitting fraudulent timesheets claiming 744 hours of military leave.
