In recent days, multiple schools in Pengan County have organized educational activities to commemorate the December 9th Movement. Through art performances, singing competitions, and exhibitions, these events integrated historical education with artistic practice, guiding students to remember history, inherit its spirit, and strive forward.
From December 4th to 5th, Pengan High School held a commemorative event marking the 90th anniversary of the December 9th Movement, showcasing achievements in art education. Titled "Promoting Patriotic Spirit, Shouldering the Mission of National Rejuvenation," the event featured two grade-specific performances. Over 70 programs, including the chorus "I Love You, China," the dance "Millennium of Hanfu," and the theatrical piece "Dialogue Across Time," demonstrated students' artistic skills and stage presence. Concurrently, an exhibition displayed calligraphy, paintings, handicrafts, and technological creations, reflecting the school's holistic educational approach.
Student Huang Yixuan shared her reflections after watching the performances: "The song 'As Wished' moved me deeply—it reminded me of the courage of young students who stood up for their country, a spirit we should always learn from." Another student, Yang Ziqi, said the exhibition inspired her interest in art.
On December 5th, Pengan County Xiangru No. 2 Primary School hosted a red song competition titled "Singing for Youth, Praising the Party." Classes took turns performing patriotic classics such as "March of the Volunteers," "Singing for the Motherland," and "Descendants of the Dragon," conveying patriotic fervor and youthful energy. A special performance of "The Great Production of Soldiers and Civilians" vividly recreated revolutionary-era struggles. Awards were given to encourage students to integrate patriotism into their growth.
On December 8th, Pengan No. 2 High School held another commemorative event, opening with the dance "China in the Lights." Classic songs like "As Wished" and "We Are Walking on the Broad Road" were performed, while theatrical pieces such as "Shout for Glory" and "Getting Better and Better" immersed audiences in historical moments. Over 20 programs spanning vocal music, instrumental performances, drama, and dance showcased students' vibrant spirit and national pride.
"These commemorative activities are not just artistic displays but also vivid lessons in patriotism," said a representative from Pengan County's Education and Sports Bureau. The events aimed to cultivate moral values through art and culture, inspiring teachers and students to uphold revolutionary traditions and strengthen their ideals.
