On June 30th, a specialized roadshow event for patent transformation and application titled "Visiting the Sanya Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences" was held. The event used intellectual property as a link to establish a channel for transforming tropical seed industry achievements from the research end to the industrial and market ends. More than 20 innovation entities from Hainan and Guangxi gathered with their key achievements. Seven roadshow projects and ten showcased results were presented for matchmaking, leading to the on-site signing of three cooperation intentions.
The event was jointly guided by the Hainan Provincial Intellectual Property Office and the Market Supervision Administration (Intellectual Property Office) of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It was co-organized by the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration and the Guangxi Intellectual Property Development Research Center. This initiative represents a concrete practice by Hainan and Guangxi in implementing their deepened cooperation framework agreement and serving the national strategy for seed industry revitalization. The roadshow focused on the core track of Nanfan seed industry, with seven projects covering three major directions: improved variety breeding, cross-border applications, and frontier technologies, collectively showcasing the innovative breakthroughs in tropical agricultural seed industries from both regions.
The event invited a panel of experts from the Nanfan industry, equity investment, and intellectual property fields to form a review committee. They provided detailed commentary from various dimensions, including technological maturity, market prospects, and patent stability, offering professional guidance for optimizing project operation models and expanding investment and financing pathways. A dedicated exhibition area for distinctive achievements was set up concurrently at the venue. Ten innovative results were displayed, covering areas such as tropical fresh fruits, bio-organic fertilizers, smart agricultural equipment, specialty deep-processed products, and digital service platforms for the seed industry, presenting a complete picture of the innovation ecosystem across the entire tropical agriculture industry chain.
During the event, three cooperation intentions were signed. The Sanya Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences partnered with Hainan Chunlei Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. to jointly establish a demonstration garden for areca nut palms free of yellowing disease, accompanied by technology promotion. The Herun Earthworm Research Institute reached a joint venture cooperation agreement with the Hainan Industrial Technology Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences to advance the transformation of functional pet food research results. Hainan Loubaibai Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. collaborated with Hainan Youkeshu Technology Co., Ltd. to build a smart agricultural management platform system, using digitalization to empower standardized cultivation of tropical crops.
It was reported that this event leveraged the platform of the national-level seed industry intellectual property operation center. It aimed to construct a full-chain service system encompassing "discovery and cultivation—roadshow promotion—matchmaking and transaction—implementation and transformation." By linking resources from government, industry, academia, research, and finance, it sought to promote the precise matching of innovative resources and the efficient implementation of cooperative projects between the two regions. In the next steps, the Hainan Provincial Intellectual Property Office will continue to enhance the "Yazhixing" brand. It plans to effectively utilize two core platforms: the national-level seed industry operation center and the global introduction and transit base for plant and animal germplasm resources. The goal is to promote variety rights transactions, joint breeding research, and the implementation of industrial projects, using cross-regional collaborative innovation to solidify the foundation for revitalizing the tropical seed industry and contribute intellectual property strength to the construction of the Nanfan Silicon Valley.
