For growth stocks like Bitfarms (BITF.US) and Robinhood (HOOD.US), the narrative behind the numbers is often as crucial as the figures themselves. Bitfarms is pivoting from Bitcoin mining to high-performance computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure, targeting a complete transformation by 2027. Meanwhile, Robinhood is expanding into the equally burgeoning field of prediction markets. While both companies present compelling stories, the more conservative strategy appears to be the safer bet for investors between the two.
Investors are exceptionally optimistic about Bitfarms' future, with its 2026 forward price-to-earnings ratio reaching a lofty 84.04 times (as of December 24, 2025), nearly quadruple its historical P/E. However, expectations continue to outpace reality. Since early October 2025, Bitfarms' stock price has plummeted by 62%, and its earnings per share have fallen short of expectations for three consecutive fiscal quarters. Its most recently reported Q3 2025 EPS was a negative $0.08, showing a deterioration from the previous quarter. Furthermore, significant questions remain about its ability to adapt and thrive within the fiercely competitive AI and computing markets, especially as other mining firms like Cipher Mining and IREN are undertaking similar transitions.
Robinhood, another young company, has already established itself as a leading mobile trading platform. Its stock price surged by as much as 300% during 2025, and its earnings per share have grown for three consecutive quarters. In the third quarter of 2025, EPS reached $0.61, surpassing expectations by nearly 20%. The brokerage's prediction markets have become its fastest-growing product, allowing users to wager on real-world events such as political elections, television award winners, and, starting late 2025, sports betting.
Robinhood presents a more robust growth narrative. Bitfarms' growth story is overly optimistic, heavily reliant on a future transformation that currently lacks a solid foundation. In contrast, Robinhood's strong profit engine and its expansion into a growing market make its growth story appear considerably more stable and sustainable.
