GIGADEVICE (03986) shares surged more than 8% in intraday trading, with the stock price rising 6.70% at the time of writing to HK$527.50, on a turnover of HK$1.884 billion. The company released a notice on the previous day regarding the top ten shareholders and top ten unrestricted shareholders following its A-share repurchase plan.

Despite significant price fluctuations in GIGADEVICE shares during the second quarter, the well-known Chinese individual investor Ge Weidong not only held his position but actually increased it. Data shows that Ge Weidong and his wife Wang Ping collectively added more than 1.21 million A-shares of GIGADEVICE since the start of the second quarter. Ge Weidong had previously posted on social media expressing a bullish outlook on AI, stating: "I believe it's not over yet."

TrendForce analysts have pointed out that the tight supply-demand balance for DRAM is expected to continue until 2027, with price increases likely to extend into the second half of that year. BOCOM International also remains bullish on the prospects of mainland Chinese memory manufacturers, noting that the critical role of memory in AI infrastructure has not changed. They argue that major manufacturers are still unable to meet demand even after capacity upgrades, maintaining their forecast that supply will remain tight until at least the fourth quarter of 2027.
