Northern University for Nationalities Wins Second Prize in Regional College Student "Drama-Themed League Class" Competition

Recently, the 16th "Hope Cup" Regional College Student Science, Technology, and Culture Arts Festival—featuring a drama-themed league class competition—concluded successfully. The event was organized by the Regional Youth League Committee and Ningxia Student Federation, with Ningxia Construction Vocational and Technical College serving as the host.

Northern University for Nationalities' drama troupe from its student art ensemble secured second place with their production *The Original Aspiration*, showcasing the university’s innovative integration of ideological education and artistic expression. Guided by the principle of fostering a strong sense of community among Chinese ethnic groups, the university combines the promotion of hard work with aesthetic education, creating thought-provoking and artistically compelling works like *The Original Aspiration*.

The play vividly recounts the heroic story of martyr Cui Jingyue, who reestablished the Party organization in Ningxia and persisted in prison struggles until his sacrifice. Through artistic storytelling, it inspires young students to inherit revolutionary traditions, strengthen their ideals, and embrace their responsibilities in the new era.

Over two months of rigorous rehearsals, students meticulously researched historical materials—including local Party archives, memoirs, and period news reports—to ensure authenticity in every line and scene. Their dedication to historical accuracy and artistic excellence transformed the play into a moving tribute to revolutionary martyrs, earning acclaim from judges and audiences alike.

Launched in April, the competition attracted over 500 participants from 21 universities across the region. After intense competition and expert evaluation, 12 awards were granted. Northern University for Nationalities stood out among outstanding entries, receiving widespread praise.

Moving forward, the university will further integrate drama-based league classes into ideological education, creating more impactful campus cultural works that embed revolutionary spirit into student development. This initiative aims to guide young people in following the Party’s leadership and contributing to Ningxia’s modernization and national rejuvenation.
