Ahead of International Consumer Rights Day, consumer confidence and rights protection are being emphasized. Statistics from a complaint platform show that in the past 30 days, the bubble tea chain CHABAIDAO received 14 valid complaints, with a resolution rate of 57.14%.
Multiple consumers have reported issues with CHABAIDAO regarding product quality, food safety, and in-store service. Complaints include significantly less drink volume than expected, foreign objects found in beverages, and orders for less ice being served with cups half-full of ice.
One consumer reported that on February 28, 2026, they purchased a "Mango Milk Green Tea" from CHABAIDAO, only to find the cup was only about half full upon delivery. When contacting the store, the manager initially responded with a harsh attitude, stating, "Our milk tea is only half a cup." Although the manager later apologized, no clear explanation was provided for the drink's short volume or the brand's standard cup measurements.
On the same day, another customer at a CHABAIDAO store in Wuxi found a "complete and dirty human fingernail" in their "Yogurt Purple Rice Drink," which caused extreme disgust. After complaining via a delivery platform, the customer was told the store manager could not be reached. When contacting the store directly, the responsible person was reportedly arrogant and refused compensation. The manager later claimed to have contacted the police and demanded the customer surrender the foreign object. When the customer referenced the Food Safety Law to request compensation, the manager insinuated the customer was attempting extortion and tried to negotiate a lower settlement. The customer expressed frustration over the store's dismissive and suspicious handling of a legitimate food safety concern.
At a CHABAIDAO location in Guangzhou, a customer who specifically requested "less ice" in their "Mango Passion Fruit Milk Tea" received a drink that was half-filled with ice. When they provided feedback, the staff member responded dismissively, saying, "This is how we make it." The customer felt their specific request was disregarded, equating the practice to a hidden reduction in the advertised product.
Consumer grievances primarily focus on three areas: inconsistent product volume and unclear ice quantity policies, making it difficult to assess value for money; the presence of foreign objects in drinks, raising serious food safety concerns; and poor complaint handling, where store managers often respond with defensiveness or accuse customers of bad faith, showing a lack of empathy and standardized procedures.
CHABAIDAO is a freshly made tea beverage chain originating from Sichuan, specializing in fruit teas, milk teas, and yogurt-based drinks. The brand has expanded rapidly across China through a franchise model, establishing a presence in both major cities and smaller markets. It operates through online channels like mini-programs and delivery platforms, alongside physical stores, frequently launching new products and promotional collaborations. Recent efforts have focused on upgrading store aesthetics and diversifying its product lineup, with a core emphasis on fruit tea, milk tea, and yogurt beverages. The company has also made strides in capital market activities, supply chain integration, and franchise system improvements, leading to significant growth in store numbers and brand recognition.
