December marks the peak of the festive "Christmas season." To better serve overseas consumers, JD LOGISTICS has officially launched its first overseas "Smart Wolf Warehouse" in the UK. Festive gifts carrying holiday blessings are already being dispatched from this facility, leveraging JD's highly efficient super supply chain to enable same-day delivery for UK customers through its European online retail platform, Joybuy.
Spanning over 3,000 square meters, this automated benchmark warehouse is equipped with nearly 200 JD LOGISTICS Smart Wolf robots. Thanks to their efficient operation, the warehouse has achieved a fourfold improvement in picking and outbound efficiency. Additionally, optimized shelving height and density have significantly expanded storage capacity and enhanced goods-per-area utilization.
"The Smart Wolf system has revolutionized warehouse operations," said Sean, a maintenance technician at the UK Smart Wolf Warehouse. Unlike traditional warehouses, the system employs aerial "flying ladder" robots to precisely retrieve goods from shelves, while Smart Wolf transport robots automatically deliver them to operators—truly realizing a "goods-to-person" workflow.
Meanwhile, the adoption of Smart Wolf robots has raised the bar for logistics staff in terms of expertise and precision. After training, a single operator can now manage 30 cargo compartments simultaneously, processing over 300 items per hour—a stark contrast to the traditional compartment-by-compartment search method. This "sort-while-pick" model has quadrupled overall warehouse efficiency.
For Sofia, an outbound operator at the UK Smart Wolf Warehouse, automation has transformed her work experience. Previously, she clocked over 20,000 steps daily in a traditional warehouse, enduring heavy physical strain. Now, with robots handling most manual tasks, her workload has lightened, allowing her to focus on core operations.
Currently, JD is accelerating its global expansion. Joybuy, its European online retail arm, has entered trial operations in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, offering same-day or next-day delivery in multiple cities. This ensures European consumers enjoy high-quality products, fast and reliable shipping, competitive pricing, and attentive service.
Under its "Global Mesh Network" initiative, JD LOGISTICS operates over 130 overseas warehouses across 23 countries and regions, spanning 1.3 million square meters in total, alongside dozens of international freight routes.
The UK Smart Wolf Warehouse is one of JD LOGISTICS' many smart logistics facilities overseas. Moving forward, the company will continue advancing automation to enhance fulfillment efficiency and service quality, delivering superior logistics experiences to local consumers while contributing practical expertise to global supply chain upgrades through Chinese logistics technology.
