Data from the market shows that on September 17, the overnight futures for the Hang Seng Index (September contract) settled at 24,401 points, marking a decline of 287 points, or 1.163%. This puts the contract at a discount of 313 points compared to the underlying cash index.

In terms of market positioning, the total number of open interest contracts stood at 125,241, reflecting a decrease of 11,661 contracts from the previous session. Meanwhile, the net open interest contracts were recorded at 40,102, down by 49 contracts.
