Shares of MDA Space Ltd. surged 7.52% during intraday trading on Thursday, as investors reacted positively to the company's latest financial results.
The aerospace and space technology company reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of CA$0.38 per diluted share, surpassing the FactSet consensus estimate of CA$0.32. Revenue for the quarter reached CA$464.1 million, a 32.2% increase from the same period last year and well above analyst expectations of CA$413.8 million.
The strong performance was driven by higher volumes across all business segments, including satellite systems, robotics and space operations, and geointelligence. MDA Space also reported a healthy backlog of CA$3.69 billion, providing clear revenue visibility for 2026 and beyond, and reaffirmed its full-year financial outlook. The company's recent U.S. initial public offering has strengthened its balance sheet, with a net cash position of CA$299.3 million at quarter-end.
