Are you still wearing short sleeves and using fans these past couple of days, feeling like autumn is still far away? Don't worry, the cold front has already been scheduled.
Affected by a weak cold front seeping in, Guangdong, that "big chicken leg," has recently drawn a clear temperature dividing line. Yesterday (November 5), areas the cold front had not yet reached still saw temperatures exceeding 30°C, with Chaozhou even hitting 34°C—truly hot enough to make you question life. But this situation is about to change! As the Start of Winter solar term approaches, two cold fronts will successively affect our country, with cooling advancing from north to south and the impact reaching as far as South China, bringing the coldest daytime temperatures of the second half of the year to many places. Guangzhou's maximum temperature from the 5th to the 8th will generally reach above 28°C. Starting from the 9th, cooling will arrive and may continuously refresh the lowest maximum temperature of the second half of the year. After the cooling, the heat will recede and it will feel much cooler. Everyone can get their long sleeves and light jackets ready. This weekend, Guangzhou will still feel relatively hot. The truly noticeable autumn chill will wait until next Monday, when the long-awaited "teens" (temperatures in the 10s°C) will arrive, and the autumn coolness experience pass will officially go live.
It is expected that over the next three days, most of Guangdong Province will be cloudy with showers, and some areas will see relatively heavy rain. On the 6th, a weak cold front will supplement its impact on the north, with temperatures dropping slightly; a new round of moderate-intensity cold air will affect northern Guangdong on the afternoon of the 8th, reach the Guangzhou urban area in the latter half of the night, and affect coastal cities and counties on the morning of the 9th, with average daily temperatures dropping by 5–7°C.
According to meteorological and hydrological monitoring, from 8:00 on November 5 to 8:00 on November 6, one town or street across the province recorded torrential rain exceeding 100 millimeters, 11 towns or streets recorded rainstorm levels of 50–100 millimeters, and 57 towns or streets recorded heavy rain of 25–50 millimeters. It is expected that from the 6th to the 7th, most cities and counties in our province will still have showers, with some areas seeing relatively heavy rain. Please carry rain gear when traveling and pay close attention to weather changes.
