Traveling to Changbai Mountain this winter season just got easier! Recently, the Jilin Provincial Department of Transportation, in collaboration with China Railway Shenyang Group Co., Ltd., has rolled out a series of railway capacity upgrades to fuel the booming "big tourism" industry.
The newly operational Shenyang-Baihe High-Speed Rail now operates 23.5 pairs of trains daily, significantly improving accessibility for winter sports enthusiasts visiting destinations like Changbai Mountain. Additionally, the Changchun-Hunchun Intercity Railway has been optimized, adding one more direct train pair between Changchun and Hunchun, complementing the existing two pairs, with departures available throughout the day for enhanced regional connectivity.
The most exciting development is the planned expansion in Q1 next year, which will introduce two additional high-speed rail pairs between Changbai Mountain and Beijing Chaoyang. Another new direct train will run from Yanji West via Changbai Mountain to Beijing Chaoyang, cutting travel time by 2 hours and 22 minutes, making weekend trips from Beijing to Changbai Mountain a reality.
Ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush, railway authorities are also preparing to add temporary trains beyond last year’s 258 pairs to meet passenger demand.
These continuous improvements in the rail network not only enhance accessibility to Jilin’s winter attractions but also strengthen the connection between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Jilin’s snow and ice tourism resources. This winter, hop on a high-speed train with friends to enjoy Jilin’s snowy landscapes, hot springs, and winter sports!
