Beijing Sanlitun Store's Glass Design Raises Privacy Concerns, Company Responds with Modifications

Deep News05-18

A recent online discussion has drawn attention to a design feature at a store in Beijing's Sanlitun area. A social media user posted, advising individuals wearing skirts to avoid a specific section due to concerns that the glass flooring could compromise privacy.

In response, the official account for the store addressed the issue in the comments section. "We take the feedback very seriously and sincerely apologize for the negative experience this has caused," the statement read, accompanied by an image. "Temporary barriers have been added to the area, and staff are on-site to provide guidance. We will urgently install opaque film tonight to completely resolve the visibility issue before reopening tomorrow. This incident highlights an oversight in our store's spatial design, for which we take full responsibility without excuse."

A staff member from the location confirmed the situation today, stating, "Our store recently opened, and this aspect of the design was indeed not sufficiently considered. We have reported this issue to management, and corrective actions are underway. The area in question has already been addressed with an appropriate solution."
