Disney CEO to Step Down Ahead of Schedule

Deep News01-31 07:31

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger's plan to depart before his contract expires will abruptly conclude a protracted and disorderly succession process.

Iger has informed colleagues that he intends to resign and step back from day-to-day management before his contract concludes on December 31st. Having initially stepped down as Disney's CEO in February 2020, Iger remained as executive chairman and continued to involve himself in company operations, convening meetings with senior executives from which his successor, Bob Chapek, was absent. Iger has repeatedly postponed his retirement. In 2022, he was called back to reassume the chief executive role. The Disney board is now in the final stages of selecting yet another successor for Iger.
