On June 5th, the international gold price closed at $4328.92 per ounce, falling by more than $140 during the day and having dropped over $1200 from its peak earlier this year.
In the domestic market on June 6th, Chow Sang Sang gold jewelry was quoted at 1315 yuan per gram, a single-day decline of 39 yuan. Lao Miao Gold's jewelry price was 1321 yuan per gram, down 35 yuan for the day, while Lao Feng Xiang stood at 1316 yuan per gram, also falling 39 yuan.
On January 29th, the per-gram price for major domestic gold jewelry brands reached a peak for the year. The prices for Chow Sang Sang, Lao Miao Gold, and Lao Feng Xiang jewelry on that day were 1708 yuan, 1722 yuan, and 1713 yuan per gram, respectively. Compared to these annual highs, the per-gram prices for the three brands have now fallen by 393 yuan, 401 yuan, and 397 yuan, each representing a decline of 23%.
Both international gold prices and domestic gold jewelry prices have now retreated to levels last seen in December 2023.
