According to reports, South Korea's Assistant Minister of Finance, Moon Jisung, will visit the United States to meet with senior officials from the U.S. Treasury Department.

The South Korean won is facing increasing depreciation pressure due to heightened tensions in the Middle East and foreign investors selling off South Korean stocks.

A personal visit to the U.S. by a senior official in charge of foreign exchange policy is a relatively uncommon occurrence.
