At the 18th Xuanyuan Automotive Bluebook Forum held in Guangzhou from May 15 to 17, Chen Zheng, Vice President of GEELY AUTO Group, delivered a speech on the theme "Turning Point."
Chen Zheng pointed out that at the 2026 turning point, China's automotive industry stands at a multi-dimensional crossroads involving brand, technology, design, and global expansion, facing the practical expectation of "surviving and moving upward."
To address future uncertainties, Chen Zheng proposed three core metrics for evaluating design: Design Agility: "Speed is capability; pace is a weapon." In the attention economy era, the design freshness period has shortened from four to five years to one to two years. The industry's new vehicle launch frequency has entered a 90-120 day cycle, while GEELY Galaxy has compressed this to 52 days in 2025. Hit Rate: The average hit rate in China's automotive market in 2025 is about 12%. Among the 20 new models launched by GEELY Galaxy, 16 achieved monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units, resulting in a hit rate as high as 80%. Aesthetic Compatibility: Globalization faces challenges from diverse aesthetic preferences. Chen Zheng introduced the "greatest common divisor of aesthetics" principle, advocating for "de-stylization" to address compatibility issues.
He noted that as new energy vehicle penetration exceeds half, the user base has shifted from trendsetting pioneers to the mainstream public. The diversification of energy forms (pure electric, hybrid, methanol, etc.) will drive design styles from opposition to unification. The convergence of fuel and electric vehicle designs is only a matter of time. Chen Zheng believes that this year's Beijing Auto Show is highly likely to become a significant turning point in the evolution of design styles.
