During a media session following XPeng's 2026 Global New Product Launch on the afternoon of January 8th, He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPeng Inc., shared his views. He stated that Tesla is an excellent company and that both can encourage and grow with each other to develop better products.
When the topic turned to Robotaxi, He Xiaopeng expressed his opinion that Robotaxis will still require a steering wheel and brakes, but they will become increasingly safe and user-friendly, while also needing regulatory oversight.
At the launch event, He Xiaopeng revealed that XPeng plans to commence Robotaxi operations in 2026.
