On January 21, 21 Finance's "Rumor Debunking" column noted that several online articles have recently appeared claiming that "in January 2026, WeBank, in partnership with WeChat, officially launched the 'WeChat Pay Score Emergency Credit Limit'." Upon verification, the aforementioned information is false. These articles misuse the names of WeChat Pay Score and WeBank, alleging that "you can receive emergency funds with your WeChat Pay Score" or "you can withdraw cash once your Pay Score meets the standard." These are all deceptive and untrue claims!
WeChat Pay Score is a comprehensive calculation based on an individual's identity traits, payment behavior, and other factors, designed to provide users with a simpler and more convenient lifestyle. It is primarily used for convenient consumption scenarios such as deposit-free rentals and "use now, pay later" services. WeChat Pay Score is not an online loan product; it cannot be used to borrow money directly and certainly does not offer any so-called "emergency fund" service.
The true purpose of such false articles is to exploit the official credibility of WeChat Pay and WeBank to mislead users into visiting third-party online lending platforms. This not only misleads users into believing it is an official service but also carries the risk of personal information leakage or financial loss.
WeChat officials remind users: WeChat Pay Score is mainly used for convenient consumption scenarios like deposit-free rentals and "use now, pay later" services. Users are advised to only use the official entry point within the WeChat app: [Wallet] -> [Pay Score]. Do not trust or click on any links that claim to offer "cash withdrawal, loans, or receiving emergency funds."
