CNBM's Carbon Fiber Production Capabilities Reach New Heights with Full-Spectrum Industrialization

Deep News06-29

On June 28th, China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) held a commissioning ceremony for its high-performance carbon fiber production lines in Lianyungang, showcasing three new lines. These newly operational lines establish a comprehensive carbon fiber product matrix covering "high-strength, high-modulus, and large-tow" categories, characterized by broad market coverage, rapid investment returns, and advanced technical standards.

The first line is the world's largest production line with an annual capacity of 1,000 tons of SYT70 (T1100-grade) high-strength carbon fiber, precisely meeting the cutting-edge demands for lightweight and high-load-bearing performance in aerospace applications.

The second line is the world's largest production line with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons of SYT45S-48K carbon fiber, which can be widely applied in industrial sectors such as wind power and new energy vehicles, providing high-cost-performance material support.

The third line is the world's largest production line with an annual capacity of over 600 tons of M40-grade and above high-modulus carbon fiber, serving fields like deep-sea, deep-earth, and deep-space exploration, competitive sports equipment, and 3C electronics, offering material choices with high rigidity and precision.

Adhering to the principles of "green, high-end, and digital-intelligent" development, the initial production lines achieved target specifications within their first trial month of operation, delivering stable, ample, and high-quality products to meet market trust and expectations.

A senior official from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission's Science and Technology Innovation Bureau noted that accelerating the achievement of self-sufficiency and advancement in high-end carbon fiber is a shared mission for state-owned enterprises. The Commission places high importance on the high-quality development of the carbon fiber industry, deploying a series of specialized initiatives to guide central enterprises in systematically overcoming bottlenecks across the industrial chain.

The successful commissioning of these three lines marks a significant step forward for China's carbon fiber industry in terms of both technological level and production scale. It was expressed that CNBM should leverage its superior resources and implement robust measures to ensure high-standard construction and high-quality operation.

Building on this new starting point, the company is expected to continuously consolidate its dual leading advantages in technology and production capacity within the high-end carbon fiber sector, firmly securing the lifeline of independent and safe supply for critical core materials, thereby fulfilling national expectations through tangible achievements.

"As a crucial strategic new material, carbon fiber is key to breaking through 'bottleneck' constraints in critical sectors and strengthening the foundation for a manufacturing powerhouse," stated the Chairman of CNBM. He emphasized that this commissioning represents a new milestone, signifying dual leadership in "technology and industry" and a dual leap in "high-end and large-scale" development for China's carbon fiber sector.

Leveraging the complete industrial cluster formed in Jiangsu Province, encompassing high-end new materials, basic building materials, engineering technical services, and non-metallic minerals, CNBM will continue to deepen its all-around cooperation with the province.

The focus will be on key areas such as technological innovation, strengthening, supplementing, and solidifying the industrial supply chain, and green, low-carbon development. The group is committed to fully supporting its subsidiary in becoming stronger, more excellent, and larger, accelerating the creation of a world-class carbon fiber enterprise with international competitiveness and professional leadership.

This effort firmly implements the strategic deployment for building a manufacturing and materials powerhouse, contributing to the achievement of high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

It was reported that the Lianyungang high-performance carbon fiber production base commenced construction in June 2023. It covers an area of 1,500 acres, involves a planned investment of 6 billion yuan, has a designed capacity of 31,000 tons, and is planned to include ten comprehensive production lines.
