Hong Kong Stocks Open Lower: Tech and Gold Shares Decline, Auto Sector Shows Strength

U.S. stocks advanced again on Wednesday, supported by easing oil prices, with major indices reaching new highs. The dollar saw volatile gains, while the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield held around 4.48%. Gold prices retreated, and oil prices faced renewed pressure.

Hong Kong's major indices opened lower today. The Hang Seng Index fell 0.39% to open at 25,230.58 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index declined 0.25%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.29%.

Sector performance was mixed. Technology and internet stocks broadly declined, with Kuaishou falling over 1%. Lithium battery shares opened higher, led by Contemporary Amperex Technology, which gained over 1%. Automobile stocks were active, with NIO surging more than 7%. Gold stocks generally weakened, as China Gold International Resources dropped over 2%.
