JBM Healthcare ESG Report: FY2025/26 Emissions Rise 6.95%, Intensity Targets Set for 2030

Bulletin Express07-15

JBM Healthcare released its FY2025/26 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, detailing a modest increase in resource consumption and greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions while introducing the group’s first medium-term decarbonisation targets.

Governance and Strategy The board has formalised a three-tier climate governance structure and completed its inaugural scenario analysis covering IPCC SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5, alongside NGFS transition pathways. Six material climate risks and opportunities were identified, focusing on extreme weather, tightening regulation and energy-efficiency gains. No dedicated capex was earmarked for climate action, but related measures are embedded in existing budgets.

Emissions and Energy • Total GHG emissions rose 6.95 % to 2,014 tCO₂e (FY2024/25: 1,883 tCO₂e). • Scope 1 (mainly vehicle fuel) accounted for 16 tCO₂e; Scope 2 (purchased electricity) 1,967 tCO₂e; Scope 3 (waste and business travel) 31 tCO₂e. • Emissions intensity edged up to 2.42 tCO₂e per HKD million of revenue (FY2024/25: 2.41). • Energy consumption reached 5,232 MWh, up 10.34 %, with electricity representing 99 % of use. Energy intensity was 6.28 MWh per HKD million of revenue (FY2024/25: 6.06).

The company set 2030 targets to cut both GHG emissions intensity and energy-consumption intensity by 5 % from the FY2026 baseline. Carbon offsets are not planned at this stage; progress will be reviewed annually.

Resource Use and Waste Water withdrawal declined 14.63 % to 21,609 m³, or 25.95 m³ per HKD million of revenue. Hazardous waste generation fell 42.43 % to 3,319 kg, while non-hazardous waste increased 18.38 % to 13,133 kg. All waste streams were handled by licensed contractors, and no environmental non-compliance cases were recorded.

Workforce and Safety Headcount rose to 404 (FY2024/25: 279) with females representing 67 % of employees. Overall staff turnover was 26 %. The group reported zero work-related fatalities and six recordable injuries, resulting in 28 lost days (FY2024/25: 304). Occupational-safety training reached 66 % of management and 53 % of non-management employees.

Supply Chain and Product Responsibility JBM engaged 79 raw-material suppliers, 68 % of which are based in East Asia, and applies GMP-aligned audits and environmental criteria in vendor assessments. No product recalls occurred during the year, and customer complaints were managed under a structured escalation process.

Community and Ethics The company expanded community investment in elderly care, youth development and sports, while partnering with the ICAC for anti-corruption training spanning managerial and frontline staff. No incidents of bribery, fraud or data-privacy breaches were reported.

Looking Ahead JBM Healthcare plans to refine target-setting methodologies, enhance data systems for quantitative climate analysis and monitor evolving regulations that could trigger internal carbon-pricing adoption.
