On May 6, it was announced that the 2025 Metaverse Exemplary Case List has been officially released. A total of 193 cases nationwide were selected, with 17 originating from Sichuan Province, ranking third in China and first in the central and western regions. These 17 cases come from seven cities and prefectures, including Chengdu, Mianyang, and Luzhou.
Among the selections, five were recognized as exemplary digital human cases, including the "Intelligent Interactive Digital Human 'Yuan Qi'" from Chengdu Jiuzhou Electronic Information System Co., Ltd. and the "Chuanguan News Digital Journalist" from Sichuan Daily Press Group. Eleven projects were listed as exemplary product cases, such as the "All-in-One AI+AR Smart Glasses IN MO AIR311" from Sichuan Yingmu Technology Co., Ltd. and the "Application of Virtual Reality in Immersive Multi-user Industrial Design and Verification Visualization" from Sichuan Changhong Jiahua Information Product Co., Ltd. Additionally, the Jinjiang Economic Development Zone's "Metaverse + AIGC" Industrial Base was included as an exemplary park case.
Sichuan Province has identified the metaverse as a future industry for accelerated cultivation in its 15th Five-Year Plan. In recent years, the province has focused on policy guidance, technological breakthroughs, scenario empowerment, and ecological clustering to advance the metaverse industry from planning to implementation, establishing itself as a key driver of metaverse development in central and western China.
For instance, in core technology research, Sichuan has adopted mechanisms such as "unveiling top-ranked projects" and "horse racing" to tackle over 50 key technologies, including digital twins, intelligent interaction, digital humans, and XR (extended reality), breaking through several critical technical bottlenecks. In accelerating scenario application, the province has developed more than 120 innovative metaverse application scenarios, forming a development pattern characterized by "industrial leadership, cultural and tourism empowerment, and multi-domain coordination." To improve the industrial ecosystem, Sichuan has gathered over 300 metaverse-related enterprises, attracting and nurturing more than 10 chain-leading companies and over 50 specialized and innovative SMEs, creating a gradient cluster of "chain leaders leading, backbone enterprises supporting, and SMEs collaborating."
"Currently, Sichuan's metaverse industry has entered a critical period of leapfrog development marked by technological breakthroughs, scenario explosion, and ecological improvement," stated a relevant official from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology. The next steps will involve deepening the industrial layout for the metaverse, strengthening technological innovation, scenario empowerment, and ecosystem construction, while promoting the deep integration of the metaverse with artificial intelligence, computing power networks, and digital security. These efforts aim to help Sichuan build a national metaverse industry hub and provide strong support for the development of Digital Sichuan.
