On December 10, the Yunnan Tourism Homestay Association issued a decision titled "Resolution on Initiating Anti-Monopoly Rights Protection Against OTA Unfair Competition Practices." The announcement stated that in recent years, the association has received multiple complaints from member businesses alleging that certain online travel platforms, including Trip.com Group Limited, have abused their dominant market position to impose unfair practices on Yunnan's homestay industry. These practices reportedly include forced exclusivity ("pick one of two" clauses), arbitrary unilateral commission hikes, unfair transaction terms, and traffic suppression.
The association claims these actions severely violate the legitimate rights of homestay operators, disrupt fair market competition, and hinder healthy industry development.
To protect members' interests and maintain a fair business environment, the association's council approved initiating anti-monopoly rights protection measures. These include evidence collection, legal service engagement, and potential collective litigation.
As of press time, Trip.com Group Limited has not responded to these allegations.
