China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (abbreviated “China Railway Construction”) posted sharply lower earnings for the third quarter ended 30 September 2026, as a slowdown in domestic infrastructure and real-estate activity weighed on profitability.
Revenue and Earnings • Q3 revenue decreased 11.79 % year on year to RMB 211.01 billion (USD 29.1 billion). • Net profit attributable to shareholders plunged 83.98 % to RMB 0.66 billion (USD 0.09 billion). • Basic earnings per share for the quarter fell to RMB 0.01.
Nine-Month Performance • Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 dropped 12.21 % to RMB 639.45 billion (USD 88.2 billion). • Net profit attributable to shareholders declined 36.88 % to RMB 9.35 billion (USD 1.29 billion). • Basic EPS stood at RMB 0.56, down 41.67 %. • Weighted average ROE retreated 2.09 percentage points to 2.75 %.
Profit Drivers Management attributed the earnings contraction to reduced nationwide fixed-asset investment and continued adjustment in China’s property market, which dampened margins in the engineering contracting and real-estate segments.
Cash Flow and Balance Sheet • Operating activities used net cash of RMB 88.36 billion, deepening from a RMB 79.76 billion outflow a year earlier. • Total assets edged up 6.67 % since end-2025 to RMB 2.22 trillion, while equity attributable to shareholders rose 2.04 % to RMB 347.23 billion. • Interest-bearing liabilities expanded: short-term loans reached RMB 237.09 billion and long-term loans RMB 415.63 billion.
Contracting Activity During the first three quarters, newly signed contracts totalled RMB 1.30 trillion, a 14.30 % year-on-year decline. Domestic orders (RMB 1.11 trillion) fell 15.73 %, whereas overseas contracts (RMB 194.25 billion) eased 5.16 %. Infrastructure construction—mainly construction contracting and environmental protection—accounted for 85.69 % of total new orders but dropped 11.04 %. Rail and road projects were particularly weak, down 37.65 % and 24.54 %, respectively.
Non-Recurring Items Non-recurring gains contributed RMB 0.64 billion to nine-month earnings, tempered by fair-value losses on financial instruments (-RMB 0.39 billion) and tax and minority interest effects.
Capital Structure and Equity Paid-in capital remained at RMB 13.58 billion. Other equity instruments, primarily perpetual bonds, rose to RMB 69.33 billion. The State-owned China Railway Construction Corporation retained a 51.23 % stake; HKSCC Nominees held 15.20 %.
Outlook Indicators While the company did not provide forward guidance, the order-book dynamics suggest ongoing pressure from subdued domestic infrastructure and real-estate markets. Management’s focus appears centered on cost control and diversification, including incremental growth in manufacturing and urban rail transit contracts, which grew 14.18 % and 10.40 %, respectively, during the period.
