Datang Jinhua Natural Gas Power Generation Project Achieves Full Capacity Commercial Operation

Deep News07-07

On July 6th, during the peak summer power demand period, Unit 2 of the Datang Jinhua Natural Gas Power Generation Project successfully passed its 168-hour full-load trial operation. This milestone signifies the full commercial operation of China Datang Corporation's first 9H-class gas turbine power plant, providing a significant boost of green power to ensure a stable and secure electricity supply for Zhejiang province and the broader East China region.

The project features two sets of world-class, highly efficient 9H-class combined cycle power generation units, with a total installed capacity of 1,496 megawatts. With both units now fully operational, the annual power generation is estimated to be approximately 3 billion kilowatt-hours, sufficient to meet the electricity needs of about 3.8 million residents.

Since construction began, the project team worked alongside all participating units for 676 days and nights. It was the first among the initial batch of 9H gas turbine projects in Zhejiang province to achieve plant power reception and the first to complete the "natural gas supply channel connection." The project strictly adhered to management goals encompassing safety, quality, and environmental standards, successfully achieving key milestones such as the boiler hydrostatic test, turbine cylinder closure, and the first ignition of the gas turbine on the first attempt. The entire journey from groundbreaking to commercial operation was completed in less than two years.

The project is driven by innovation and boasts significant advantages including fast response times, low energy consumption, and excellent environmental performance. It is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.22 million tonnes annually. It pioneered several intelligent control technologies domestically, such as sequential loading for critical loads and one-click sequential control. Within Zhejiang province, it was the first to employ large-span pipe trusses and ecological construction techniques for bedrock caissons. These series of innovative achievements fully demonstrate China Datang Corporation's comprehensive capabilities in managing large-scale energy projects and its commitment to low-carbon, green development strategies.
