Hong Kong Stock Moves: LAOPU GOLD Surges Over 8% in Afternoon Trade as Management Predicts Strong H2 Growth

Stock News07-31

Shares of LAOPU GOLD (06181) climbed more than 8% during afternoon trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, reaching HK$319.4 by press time, with a trading volume of HK$551 million. The surge comes as gold price volatility weighs on demand, causing the company's second-quarter performance to drop sharply compared to the first quarter.

Company management anticipates a notable increase in both revenue and net profit for the second half of the year, driven by new product launches, store optimization, and the arrival of peak seasons such as Qixi Festival and National Day in the latter part of the year. Guosen Securities noted that with gold prices stabilizing, the company has ramped up marketing efforts around key holidays starting in the third quarter, which should help smooth out terminal demand.

Additionally, LAOPU GOLD continues to optimize its channels and product lineup, including relocating existing stores to better positions and expanding floor space, as well as accelerating product iteration to strengthen brand recognition. These efforts are expected to solidify the company's brand power over the medium to long term.
