At a major industry conference held in Beijing, a senior executive from TENCENT discussed the rationale behind the company's recruitment of Yao Shunyu and his significant impact on the firm's artificial intelligence initiatives during his initial half-year tenure.

Tang Daosheng, Senior Executive Vice President of TENCENT and CEO of the Cloud and Smart Industries Group, addressed these points during a communication session. He emphasized Yao's standing as a highly influential expert in the field.

Tang noted that even prior to Yao's official joining, discussions had clearly revealed his profound and distinct expertise in AI. His arrival has delivered immense value specifically to the company's Yuanbao and Hunyuan AI projects.

Tang further revealed that a key early contribution from Yao involved enhancing the quality of training data. He explained that much of the data used previously was not of sufficiently high quality.

Upon joining, Yao undertook significant work to improve data quality. This included eliminating large volumes of data that appeared to add quantity but did not substantially benefit model training.

These decisions led to more effective and precise outcomes. Tang credited Yao with simplifying complex processes, stating that the progress made by the Yuanbao and Hunyuan projects in the past six months has exceeded advancements made over much longer periods previously.

He unequivocally attributed a very substantial portion of this credit to Yao Shunyu's contributions.
