What? The black soil is also holding a "talent show"? You've heard of voting for idols and ranking food, but have you ever heard of selecting fertilizer for corn in the black soil? At the Northeast Lishu Experimental Station, there really is such a "selection"—with ridiculously strict criteria: the corn ear height must be a bit lower (lodging resistance), the yield must increase a bit (stable and increased production), the soil must be allowed to breathe (restoration efficacy), and there must be data and truth.
At the end of 2025, New Yangfeng was invited to participate in the project research. After rounds of screening, the New Yangfeng agricultural service team successfully "debuted" with "Yangfeng Zinc-Phosphorus-Magnesium" and entered the China Agricultural University Lishu Experimental Station.

This experimental field is no ordinary one
Lishu Experimental Station conservation tillage model. The black soil is known as the "giant panda of cultivated land." The China Agricultural University Lishu Experimental Station, jointly built with multiple agricultural universities and the Siping Municipal Government, established the Black Soil Research Institute, taking root in the fertile fields and deeply cultivating the "Lishu Model," writing research papers on the black soil of Northeast China. Protecting the black soil, driving farmers to increase production and income, and supporting the national goal of increasing grain production capacity by hundreds of billions of jin—these are major topics that the research team continues to tackle.
Don't misunderstand—the "Lishu" here is not about growing pears. Lishu County is a major corn-producing area in Northeast China, and the "Lishu Model" is precisely a set of cultivation techniques centered on returning corn straw to the field through mulching and no-till protection of the black soil. Since April 2026, the New Yangfeng agricultural service team and researchers from the Black Soil Research Institute have carried out field trials collaboratively, launching an innovative practice of university-enterprise cooperation and technology protecting the black soil.
This piece of land is not ordinary at all
The base has long implemented no-till and straw mulching conservation tillage. Straw return brings a series of production challenges: ① early spring low temperatures slow straw decomposition and cause rapid nitrogen loss; ② large amounts of straw residue interfere with seedbed preparation quality and affect full emergence; ③ some plots have insufficient supply of medium and trace elements. The research institute has extremely high requirements for fertilizer selection and the scientific rigor of fertilization plans, and the experimental design is meticulous, allowing no oversight. The first landing of "Yangfeng Zinc-Phosphorus-Magnesium" at the Lishu Experimental Station is both a new exploration and a rigorous real-world test.
Targeted measures—this plan has some "substance"
Agricultural service team collecting data in the field. The New Yangfeng agricultural service team traveled to the experimental station multiple times, conducting on-site surveys and collecting soil samples together with Station Director Wang Guiman, Deputy Station Director Cheng Yanhe, and Dr. Zhu. Combining the characteristics of the conservation tillage system, they jointly finalized the entire corn planting trial plan for "Yangfeng Zinc-Phosphorus-Magnesium." This plan can supplement medium and trace elements such as zinc and sulfur, add polyglutamic acid, adapt to the low-temperature environment of early spring in Northeast China, promote early seedling emergence and robust root systems; relying on fertilizer loss-control technology, it enables one-time simplified fertilization, exploring a new path of reducing fertilizer and increasing efficiency, nourishing the soil and increasing yield under the conservation tillage system.
How are the results? Let's go! Let's take a look in the field
Corn seedling stage comparison, left is the control, right is the demonstration. Corn root system comparison. Corn ear comparison. The New Yangfeng agricultural service team stayed in the field, checking hail disaster recovery at the seedling stage, wind lodging resistance at the mid-stage, and nutrient deficiency at the late stage. Results showed that the corn in the trial area had uniform and strong seedlings, dark green leaves, well-developed root systems, particularly outstanding lodging resistance, and significantly alleviated deficiency yellowing. Multi-point measured data showed that the three basal internodes of corn were shortened by 7–10 centimeters, the ear height was effectively lowered, and lodging resistance was significantly improved. Recently, at actual harvest yield measurement, the demonstration field increased yield by an average of 188 jin per mu and increased income by 159 yuan per mu compared with the control field. The trial results were fully affirmed by the research teams of the China Agricultural University Lishu Experimental Station and the Black Soil Research Institute. Partial data records.
This year is the first trial year for "Yangfeng Zinc-Phosphorus-Magnesium" at the Lishu Experimental Station, and related trials are still being continuously summarized and optimized. New Yangfeng will closely follow the research pace of the experimental station, continuously improve the trial database, refine fertilization plans suitable for the conservation tillage model, and help large growers, cooperatives, and family farms achieve stable production and increased income!
