The bank has fully embedded ESG principles into its operations, maintaining market leadership in environmental (E) performance while strengthening social (S) and governance (G) capabilities.
By the end of September, the group’s green finance portfolio reached RMB 2.45 trillion, with its green loan scale and growth ranking first among joint-stock banks. It holds an MSCI ESG rating of AAA, the highest in China’s banking sector for seven consecutive years, and topped the China Banking Association’s 2023 Green Bank Evaluation.
The ISSB-aligned overseas service solution marks a national first, reflecting the bank’s commitment to global sustainability standards. The Bloomberg Green Finance 2026 Watchlist introduced a new evaluation framework co-developed with the Central University of Finance and Economics’ Green Finance International Institute. The "China Green Finance Index Methodology" assesses listed financial institutions to accelerate green transitions and align with national carbon neutrality goals.
