Deep News04-02

The Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference in Beijing on April 2. Spokesperson He Yadong responded to a media inquiry regarding the latest progress in advancing negotiations for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0. He stated that the upgraded protocol for version 3.0 of the China-ASEAN FTA was officially signed on October 28 last year. The updated agreement aligns with new trends in international trade and economic development, incorporating emerging areas such as the digital economy, green economy, and industrial and supply chain connectivity into the framework for the first time. According to the protocol's provisions, the agreement will take effect upon ratification by China and at least five ASEAN member states. Currently, China is working in parallel with ASEAN member countries to accelerate the domestic approval process for the protocol, aiming for its early implementation. He added that in deepening industrial chain cooperation between China and ASEAN nations, efforts will focus on fully leveraging the protocol's benefits. This includes supporting Chinese digital and new energy enterprises in expanding their presence in ASEAN markets and further enhancing bilateral cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, fintech, green equipment, and green power, thereby promoting deeper integration of industrial and supply chains.
