WeRide Added to Southbound Stock Connect, Facilitating Mainland Investor Access

Stock News06-03 20:06

On June 3rd, the globally leading autonomous driving technology company WeRide Inc. (WRD.US, 00800) announced that its Hong Kong-listed shares have been formally included in the list of securities eligible for the Southbound Stock Connect program. This adjustment is set to take effect on June 4th. Following this inclusion, eligible mainland investors will be able to buy and sell WeRide-W shares traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through the Stock Connect mechanism.

The Southbound Stock Connect is one of the mutual market access programs linking the mainland and Hong Kong capital markets, featuring stringent entry criteria such as market capitalization, liquidity, and compliance. It already covers numerous representative Hong Kong-listed companies including Tencent, Alibaba, and Xiaomi. Through this mechanism, eligible mainland investors can use their domestic securities accounts to trade Hong Kong-listed stocks included in the eligible securities list.

The inclusion of WeRide in the Stock Connect is expected to further enhance the accessibility and market liquidity of its Hong Kong shares, broaden its investor reach, and strengthen the company's connection with the mainland capital market. This marks another significant milestone for WeRide in the capital markets.

In October 2024, WeRide listed on Nasdaq, becoming the "first global Robotaxi stock." In November 2025, the company was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the "first Robotaxi stock on the Hong Kong market" and the world's first autonomous driving technology company to achieve dual primary listings in both the US and Hong Kong. Progressing from a US listing to a Hong Kong listing and now inclusion in Stock Connect, WeRide is steadily building a diversified and increasingly robust capital markets structure, providing strong support for the efficient global expansion of its business and the long-term release of its value.

Underpinning these capital market advancements is WeRide's continuously expanding global commercial foundation. According to the company's latest Q1 2026 financial report, total revenue reached RMB 114 million, representing a 58% year-on-year increase, demonstrating robust and high growth.

Currently, WeRide's products hold autonomous driving licenses in 8 countries. Its autonomous driving business has been deployed in over 40 cities across 12 countries globally. The global autonomous driving fleet size is approximately 2,800 vehicles, with the global Robotaxi fleet comprising about 1,300 vehicles. The company plans to deploy 200,000 Robotaxi and other autonomous vehicles within the next five years.

In its core Robotaxi business, WeRide has achieved fully driverless commercial operations in four cities: Guangzhou, Beijing, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. It has launched public Robotaxi services in Singapore and Riyadh and has entered European markets including Madrid, Zurich, and Bratislava. Notably, WeRide will launch Spain's first Robotaxi service in Madrid, expected to officially commence within this year, making Madrid the 12th global city for its Robotaxi services. According to the company's plan, it aims to deploy 2,600 Robotaxis globally by the end of 2026 and tens of thousands by 2030.

The foundation supporting this global commercial deployment is WeRide's continuously evolving autonomous driving technology system. The company's self-developed world model, WeRide GENESIS, connects generative AI with physical AI, consistently enhancing the generalization capability and deployment efficiency of its autonomous driving system across different countries, cities, and road environments. It is adaptable to vehicle models of different levels, from L2++ advanced driver-assistance systems to L4 driverless technology.

In the L2++ domain, WeRide's one-stage end-to-end ADAS solution, WRD 3.0, achieved an unprecedented five consecutive championships in a major Chinese intelligent driving competition and has secured nearly 30 vehicle model designations from OEMs including GAC and Chery.

Moving forward, WeRide will continue to be technology-driven, accelerating the global commercial deployment of its multi-scenario autonomous driving businesses, including Robotaxi. Through continuously expanding operational scale and resilient business performance, the company aims to create long-term value for its global shareholders and the market.
