China's nuclear power sector has achieved a total installed capacity of 125 gigawatts, securing the top position globally. This information was released in the "China Nuclear Energy Development Report 2026" blue book published by the China Nuclear Energy Association on April 17. The report indicates that the country currently has 60 commercial nuclear power units in operation, with an additional 36 units under construction, accounting for more than half of the world's nuclear power projects currently being built. Furthermore, 16 units have been approved and are awaiting construction, reflecting continuous growth in the country's nuclear power capacity.
This year, China has already started construction on two new nuclear power units and plans to complete seven units, maintaining its global leadership in nuclear power development scale.
