Manulife Reports Strong Q2 Results with Core Earnings Rising 12% to C$1.9 Billion

Manulife (00945) has released its second-quarter results for the period ending June 30, 2026, showcasing robust financial performance.

Core earnings reached C$1.9 billion, marking a 12% increase on a constant exchange rate basis compared to the second quarter of 2025. Net income attributable to shareholders stood at C$2.1 billion, up C$300 million from the same period last year. Core earnings per share (EPS) rose 16% to C$1.09, while reported EPS increased 22% to C$1.20. Core return on equity (ROE) was 16.3%, and ROE reached 18.0%. The Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) ratio was reported at 136%.

Manulife delivered strong quarterly performance through disciplined strategy execution, advancing key strategic priorities. Core EPS grew 16% year-over-year, with all three insurance business segments achieving double-digit revenue growth, demonstrating the strength of the diversified business portfolio. Asian core earnings increased 21%, with all three new business metrics also recording double-digit growth. The global wealth and asset management business expanded its margins and generated net inflows, with strong contributions from the recently acquired CQS and Comvest operations.

Manulife continues to strengthen its distribution capabilities and drive product innovation, including launching new high-net-worth insurance solutions, expanding ETF-based investment offerings in the global wealth and asset management business, and establishing a new financial advisory network in the United States. The company is accelerating the integration of AI across operations to enhance customer and distribution partner experiences, improve operational efficiency, and create tangible value. Recent industry awards confirm leadership in AI and the ability to scale innovation globally. The long-term care reinsurance transaction announced today will further reduce risk levels, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen business through innovative initiatives.
