“This is so convenient! I’ll keep this brochure—I’m planning a holiday trip and will definitely contact you,” exclaimed a passenger in the waiting hall of Changbai Mountain West Station after learning that staff could assist in booking tickets for popular tourist attractions. Since the official opening of the Shenyang-Baihe section of the Shenyang-Jiamusi high-speed rail, passenger traffic at the station has surged, setting new records.

From October 1 to November 30 this year, the station handled 54,000 passenger trips, with October 8 marking the highest single-day volume at 4,935 trips—continually breaking historical records. The average daily passenger volume increased by approximately 4,000 compared to previous periods, making it a standout in regional transportation services.

Safety remains a cornerstone of travel. Changbai Mountain West Station has intensified security checks, implementing full-coverage luggage screening and coordinating with local police to enhance patrols, ensuring “100% passenger checks and 100% luggage scanning.” To manage the combined flow of short-distance, family visit, and tourist travel, the station has optimized transfer services by collaborating with airports and public transport providers.

Anticipating rising tourist demand, the station proactively adjusted operations, releasing real-time ticket availability and service updates to eliminate travel blind spots. Staffing was bolstered across key positions, with station managers contributing 62 shifts totaling 450 hours in ticket-checking and passenger guidance. The “Grand Beauty of Changbai” service team also worked extended hours, assisting 163 elderly, young, ill, disabled, or pregnant passengers. Duty officer Zheng Guofeng consistently logged over 12-hour shifts to ensure smooth operations.

As part of service enhancements, the station’s “Grand Beauty of Changbai” team exemplifies proactive and attentive care, offering end-to-end assistance for priority passengers from entry to boarding. Ten daily volunteers guide travelers at key points like entrances and escalators, fostering a warm and efficient environment. For tourists, the station added prominent “Travel Guide” signage at exits, displaying QR codes for bus routes to attractions and distributing colorful itinerary tips.

Over two months since its launch, the Shenyang-Baihe high-speed rail—a national “14th Five-Year Plan” key project—has slashed intercity travel times and unlocked new opportunities for cultural tourism and regional development in Northeast China. As a pivotal node in the eastern high-speed rail network, Changbai Mountain West Station seamlessly integrates rail and tourism, providing quick access to hotspots like the western/northern slopes, Jinjiang Grand Canyon, and Wanda and Luneng ski resorts. It also accelerates the distribution of local specialties such as ginseng, injecting vitality into the regional economy.

The rebranding from “Songjianghe” to “Changbai Mountain West” signifies more than a name change—it reflects a comprehensive upgrade in service and regional functionality. The station is evolving into a harmonious blend of nature, technology, and hospitality, embodying travelers’ aspirations for safe and comfortable journeys.
