As of the end of 2025, artificial intelligence applications have been implemented in 87.7% of schools in Beijing. The initiative also focuses on enhancing teachers' capabilities from merely using AI to effectively leveraging it. In the basic education sector, Beijing has developed a local curriculum outline for AI education in primary and secondary schools. All schools in the city are required to offer a comprehensive eight-hour AI literacy course each academic year. A municipal and district-level "AI Education Instructor Group" has been established, comprising experts from universities, research institutions, and technology companies to deliver specialized lessons directly to schools. In higher education and vocational training, 459 high-quality AI general education courses have been launched. Supplementary majors and micro-programs in AI and "AI+" fields have been created, alongside the establishment of digital intelligence academies. Beijing's universities currently host 11 first-level disciplines in "Intelligent Science and Technology" and 36 undergraduate and college-level AI programs. Support has been provided for 48 universities to set up AI schools, departments, and research institutes. The Beijing Zhongguancun College is being developed as a high-level institution to explore new models for talent cultivation. Furthermore, Beijing is supporting the development of national smart education demonstration zones and AI education base schools designated by the Ministry of Education. The city aims to cultivate 100 model smart campuses and 100 benchmark AI schools. Twenty-five university applications have been selected as exemplary AI use cases by the Ministry of Education.
