In December, the citrus orchards in Qingping Village, Shengji Town, Qixingguan District, welcomed a bountiful harvest. Golden ponkan fruits hung heavily from the branches as visitors strolled through the groves with baskets, enjoying the picking experience.
Qingping Village cultivates approximately 2,500 acres of citrus. Xu Mingxiang, a large-scale grower, noted that this year's ponkan and navel oranges have ripened and hit the market, priced between 2.5 to 3 yuan per jin. His family's 30-acre citrus farm is expected to generate around 100,000 yuan in revenue. Across the village, more than 200 farming households earn an average of 20,000 yuan each from citrus sales.
Located in the Chishui River basin, Shengji Town benefits from a humid climate and fertile soil, supporting 12,600 acres of citrus cultivation, including varieties like Newhall navel oranges and Wenzhou mandarins. The local sales strategy combines online and offline channels, with the harvest season extending until March next year.
