Zhejiang's AI core industry revenue reaches 582.87 billion yuan in first eight months

In the first eight months of this year, Zhejiang's AI industry grew rapidly. The province's regulated AI core industry generated 582.87 billion yuan in revenue, up 26.9% year-on-year, with the number of core industry enterprises rising to 2,112, forming a full industrial chain spanning chips, large models, intelligent agents, and application services.

The strong momentum of the AI industry comes from specific scenarios such as workshops and factories: industrial implementation is the fundamental driving force. Zhejiang's rapid AI advancement stems from its willingness to open up scenarios and its ability to create them, allowing technology and industry to connect through real demand.

On Wanxiang Precision's wheel bearing production line, an AI vision system completes micron-level defect identification at a single-scenario takt time of 0.5 seconds; in Chint New Energy's workshop, an AI equipment maintenance intelligent agent integrates equipment repair manuals with historical fault cases, cutting average repair time in half and keeping fault diagnosis response time under 1 second... Localities are actively opening up scenarios to bring AI technology into production lines and workshops.

These opened scenarios provide enterprises with real "training" opportunities. Since the beginning of this year, Zhejiang has intensified scenario cultivation and opening, deepened the mechanism of "mining, sorting, and transforming" scenarios, built a total of 210 typical "AI+" application scenarios, and promoted AI's deep penetration from single-point breakthroughs to all industries and all scenarios. The embodied intelligence pilot testing base has already implemented more than 30 vocational skill training scenarios.

Industrial clusters are important constituent units of industrial chains and supply chains. Zhejiang's AI development momentum relies not only on the accumulation of scenarios but also on localities consciously gathering scattered scenarios into clusters, transforming single-point breakthroughs into industrial upgrading.

Zhejiang integrates AI into the fabric of industrial development. Under the unified framework of the "415X" advanced manufacturing clusters, it strengthens the core zones of AI industrial clusters in Xihu, Binjiang, and Yuhang, while building AI industrial clusters centered on Hangzhou with support from Ningbo, Jiaxing, and other areas.

In the first three quarters, among the "415X" advanced manufacturing clusters, the AI industrial cluster became one of the fastest-growing tracks. Meanwhile, as the "AI+" initiative is implemented in depth, in the first eight months, demand for computing power and data services in Zhejiang continued to grow, with revenue from internet data services and information processing and storage support services enterprises increasing by 47.0% and 20.4% year-on-year, respectively.

Demand is rising across the province because localities are connecting industrial chains and gathering scenarios into clusters. Taking Hangzhou's "296X" advanced manufacturing clusters as an example, AI and visual intelligence are positioned as trillion-level clusters. The local development logic is straightforward: when AI permeates the entire chain of production scheduling, process optimization, and quality control, what it drives is not just software service revenue but the entire hardware industrial chain of computing power, sensors, robot bodies, and industrial control systems.

Whether an industry can go far ultimately depends on whether demand will "force" technology forward, using research and development to push the industry ahead. Zhichang Technology's welding robots can open up markets in shipbuilding scenarios precisely because they were forced out by real problems such as deformation of non-standard parts and uneven groove gaps; JUNP Intelligent built a BMS controller precision assembly production line in Ningbo, equipped with 6 embodied intelligent robots to complete unmanned flow across all processes, with an operation success rate exceeding 99.9%.

With real demand, enterprises can keep up with R&D investment, and only then can operations see results. In the first eight months, the operating revenue of regulated enterprises in Zhejiang's research and experimental development industry grew by 33.6% year-on-year.

For the AI industry, R&D investment must ultimately land on large models. At present, the province has completed the filing of more than 100 generative AI services, ranking among the top in the country.
