Hebei Province Advances Deep Integration of AI in Education, Smart Education Platform Surpasses 10 Million Users

Deep News07:20

Hebei Province is making solid progress in the development of new educational infrastructure, significantly enhancing its digital resource supply capacity. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with education is moving toward deep convergence, and the user base of the smart education platform for primary and secondary schools has exceeded 10 million.

In recent years, Hebei has continuously expanded its internet bandwidth, steadily improving the carrying capacity and access speed of its network and educational information management systems. Through the government extranet's connection with the provincial data administration's intelligent computing power, the computational supply for "AI + government affairs" application scenarios has been effectively guaranteed. The provincial education department has also collaborated with multiple universities to compile and release standardized documents such as the "Construction Standards for Smart Teaching Environments in Higher Education Institutions."

Simultaneously, data service capabilities and data security safeguards have been strengthened. The provincial education data center's data service platform continues to be refined, with further optimization of data interface development functions, cumulatively exchanging over 100 million data entries.

In the field of basic education, the coverage of high-quality digital resources is continuously expanding. Hebei is deepening the province-wide pilot application of the national smart education platform for primary and secondary schools, promoting teacher and student registration and usage, and facilitating the flow and sharing of quality digital educational resources across regions and schools. Currently, the cumulative registered users of the provincial smart education platform for primary and secondary schools have reached 10.4932 million, with its activity level and user scale consistently ranking third nationwide.

The construction of urban-rural educational communities is also advancing. The "linked schools and online teaching" model pairs high-quality schools with under-resourced and small-scale rural schools, delivering courses and management experience through informatization methods, gradually narrowing the digital divide between urban and rural areas.

Digital methods are permeating educational evaluation reforms. Hebei organizes students to use the national student comprehensive evaluation and development platform for comprehensive quality assessments, integrating process data with multi-dimensional evaluations. This provides a means to break the tendency of "solely focusing on scores," offering students richer digital records and display spaces for their growth. Concurrently, activities such as the selection of high-quality AI education courses continue, mobilizing frontline teachers' enthusiasm for integrated innovation and yielding a number of high-quality practical cases.

In higher education, the digital reform of teaching materials and courses is progressing. Universities are strengthening the development of digital textbooks, continuously enriching digital resource libraries. Regarding curriculum system development, 47 undergraduate universities in the province currently offer 34 types of AI-related majors across 307 program points, covering fields such as robotics engineering, software engineering, automation, big data management and application, and computer science and technology.

The vocational education sector is also active. Sixty-three higher vocational colleges offer 24 types of related majors, such as AI technology application, IoT application technology, and cloud computing technology application, with 282 program points. Among these, by 2026, following adjustments and optimization of the professional structure, higher vocational colleges (including vocational undergraduate institutions) have added 14 new AI-related majors, with 39 new program points. Furthermore, digital-related competitions such as information technology application innovation, industrial digitalization, multi-information intelligent recognition technology and application, and virtual simulation technology are included in the Hebei Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition to enhance the informatization level of vocational college teachers and students.

To promote the deep integration of AI and education, the provincial education department supports universities in developing application scenarios and has selected Hebei University of Technology, Hebei University, Hebei Medical University, and Hebei Vocational University of Industry and Technology to conduct pilot projects. These four institutions focus on robotics, biomedicine, medicine, and the modern steel industry, respectively, constructing large educational and teaching models that serve to assist learning, teaching, and research. By integrating vast amounts of industrial data and teaching resources, these vertical domain large models provide services such as intelligent lesson preparation, personalized learning, and decision-making support for teachers, students, and administrators.
