Shares of Southwest Airlines (LUV) rose 0.9% in early Monday trading after reports that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) waived $11 million of the record penalty imposed on the carrier for its 2022 holiday operational meltdown. The DOT cited the company's investments in improving on-time performance and reliability as the reason for the reduction.
