Nanjing Port has implemented a tailored inspection and clearance plan for the outbound "Hongwei" vessel bound for the Arctic, which carries a variety of domestic products, including complete vehicles, spare parts, household appliances, and machinery. The port authority has introduced 24-hour clearance and a “one-window handling, one-time completion” service to facilitate the rapid export of "Made in China" goods.
Following the return forecast of the "Hongwei" vessel, Nanjing Port quickly activated a special support mechanism for the Arctic route, optimizing clearance service processes. Officer Zhang Xiaocun noted, “We focus on the urgent needs for crew changes and the fast turnaround of goods on the Arctic route, launching a green channel for border inspection and implementing online inspection reporting for vessels and personnel. This allows for 'zero waiting' upon vessel arrival for unloading and 'zero delay' for departure inspections.”
The opening of the Arctic route is a strategic move responding to global climate change and the development of international trade, fueled by robust freight demand. Hu Bin, director of the border inspection department at Nanjing Port, stated that the border inspection authority will continue to enhance the vessel clearance process for the Arctic route, promoting regular operational support. This effort aims to strengthen Nanjing Port's function as a shipping hub and transform it from a "river-sea transshipment port" to an "international shipping hub."
